Guadeloupe, G-in-indented-circle countermark (ca. 1803) on a French copper 2 sols 1791-A. Vlack-unl (cf. 403 for c/m). 25.23 grams. Nearly full and bold countermark (previously unknown on this host, a large copper coin, crude and cracked from the countermark), mostly darkly toned and with some encrustation but very clear host date, VG overall. This countermark is unlike any other, and Vlack shows it on a different type (Cayenne two sous) and mentions its appearance on Portuguese gold coins as well, with the caveat that "although there are no references using this counterstamp on other coins, this does not make it a counterfeit."
