Guadalajara, Mexico, bust 8 escudos, Ferdinand VII, 1821FS, one over two fleurs-de-lis in shield, rare, NGC AU 50, ex-Damon (stated on label). CT-7; KM-161.1; Fr-53. Rare and ephemeral type (with distinctive bust), and also final date of colonial issue, widely recognized as the ONLY collectible War of Independence-period colonial 8 escudos and therefore of great interest to type collectors. With slightly weak center on reverse but otherwise nicely struck and well preserved with minimal wear and faint toning, desirably problem-free unlike most examples. NGC #1941731-002. Pedigreed to the S.M. Damon collection.
