Great Britain, silver Phipps medal, James II, 1687 (Bower). Betts 67, Mi-III:53. 65.5 grams. Deeply toned XF with a modicum of nicks and scratches, the fields cleaned at some point and still somewhat lustrous, minor rim-bruises, popular as struck to commemorate the salvaging of the Spanish shipwreck Concepcion (1641) by New Englander William Phipps and struck from the actual silver recovered from the wreck.
