Germany, gold aviation medal, 1928, Bremen East-West Transatlantic Flight, by Goetz, NGC MS 63, ex-Lawrence Adams. Kaiser-935.2. 22.7 grams, 36mm. Obverse with facing bust of Hermann Kohl in aviator hat within legend ERSTER OST-WEST OZEANFLUG with date 13 APRIL 1928 below, initials I.B. to right of bust; reverse with airplane over waves below EINWILLE / EINE TAT / EIN SIEG inside legend V. HUNEFELD * KOHL * FITZMAURICE, with > in exergue. Quite prooflike, with mirrored lustrous fields and lightly frosty details, virtually pristine. The first east-to-west transatlantic flight, commemorated here, was by Hermann Kohl in the plane Bremen, flying from Ireland to Canada in 1928. NGC #4224657-009. Pedigreed to the Lawrence R.
