German Westerwald jug with George II marking as from British colonial Virginia, ca. 1740-1760. 947 grams, 8-1/4" tall. Popular and desirable jug with ring-turned neck highlighted in purple manganese glaze, checkerboard and floral body decoration of blue cobalt, and central cypher of King George II, made in Germany for the British trade, excellent condition with glaze still clear and sharp, found in the York River, Virginia, excellent condition and color save for a small hairline crack on neck. With photo-certificate.
