GUATEMALA (under Mexican Empire), struck in Mexico City, 1R-sized proclamation medal, Agustín I Iturbide, 1822, Quezaltenango. Fonrobert-7292; Grove-46a. 3.27 grams. 21 mm. Obverse with bust of Iturbide in center inside legend AGUSTIN 1• EMPERAD • DE MEXICO•; reverse with PROCLAMADO EN QUESALT• A• DE 1822• around oval arms (quetzal bird flying over two mountains) inside laurel and palm branches. Unevenly struck AU- (also slightly off-center) with very light toning over muted luster.
