GUATEMALA, Guatemala City, pillar 8 reales, Charles III, 1771 P, cross between H and I, inverted N in IND, very rare, Yonaka Plate. JP-8R40; Yonaka-G8.71b; Cal-1004; KM-27.2. 26.71 grams. Lustrous AU- details but with very light gilding all over (worn away on highest points), small flan with tops of legend lettering off the edge in places, double-struck pillars side with normal N in VNUM, curiously also with C of king's name more like a G (not mentioned in Yonaka, where this coin is only partially pictured, rated R3). Plated on p. 137 of Yonaka's A Variety Guide to the Pillar Coinage of the Guatemala, Bogotá, Lima, Potosí and Santiago Mints, 1751-1772 (2018).
