GREAT BRITAIN, London, England, crown, George III, 1818, LIX on edge, with IRIWADDY COUNTING HOUSE / RANGOON countermark on bust. Sp-3787; KM-675. 27.27 grams. The countermark dates to 1976-82 when the California-based West Coast Refiners issued 5-oz silver ingots with this marking (also connected to Scott Newhall of the Anguilla countermarked dollars fame); this is the first example we have seen of this mark on a coin, so we assume it is rare. Weakly struck countermark applied across the king's bust, richly toned VG host coin, a few scratches on the reverse.
