GERMAN STATES, Donauwörth (Holy Roman Empire), 1 taler, Charles V, 1544, NGC MS 61, finest known in NGC census. Dav-9170. Impressive taler of the Free Imperial City of Donauwörth, struck during the reign of Holy Roman Emperor Charles V, with bold Renaissance portraiture and strong heraldic detail on both sides. Choice old toning throughout, with much underlying mint luster still visible in the fields and around the devices, giving the coin excellent depth and eye appeal. Sharply struck and well centered, with only minor doubling on obverse and very light high-point friction. A notably choice survivor of this important Holy Roman Empire issue.
