French copperplate-engraved map of South America by Rigobert Bonne titled "Nouveu Royaume De Grenade, Nouvelle Andalousie, et Guyane," 1787 (Paris), hand colored. 16-1/2" x 11-1/2" (image size 13-3/8" x 9"). Highly detailed map, and some of Rigobert Bonne's best work, from his famous Atlas Encyclopedique Contenant La Geographie Ancienne, et Quelques Cartes... (1787), Paris. Rigobert Bonne (1727-1795) was one of the most important cartographers of the late 18th century and succeeded Jacques Nicolas Bellin as Royal Cartographer to France in 1773. Very clean, high quality hand-colored print on fine period handmade laid paper containing a French watermark and centerfold as issued.
