FRENCH INDOCHINA, struck in Paris, perforated trial strike 1 piastre, 1931, number 61 (stamped), extremely rare, PCGS SP58. Lec-306; KM-unl. Lustrous with bold details, no toning, very neatly punched perforations in square, semicircle, and circle shapes (two each), a fascinating issue from a one-year series of patterns and trials, the latter of which were officially examined for quality and then canceled by cutting or perforation, as seen here, thereafter typically destroyed. Only 23 trials are still known to exist, nine of which are perforated, this one clearly stamped to right of neck as the 61st trial strike.
