FRANCE, gold ecu d'or a la chaise, Philip VI (1328-50), 1st emission (1337). Ciani-282; Dupl-249; Fr-270. 4.36 grams. Broad flan with full legends, choice details all over (AU) with much luster, a few red spots and traces of encrustation, small part of edge folded over, very rare type to come from a shipwreck. With original photo-certificate from the salvor (Martin Woodward). Recovered from: Unidentified early-1400s wreck off Isle of Wight, south of England
