FRANCE, Orleans mint, gold louis d'or Mirliton, Louis XV, 1723-R, encrusted with tiny lead birdshot. Gad-338; Dupl-1638A; KM-468.14; Fr-459. 6.62 grams. Unique and beautiful, the obverse exposed (AU details) but the reverse completely covered in gray crust with several tiny lead balls, with traces of bright luster throughout, also a scarce date/mint combination (rated R in Gadoury). Recovered from: Le Chameau, sunk in 1725 off Nova Scotia, Canada
