European armor breastplate, 1600s. 3.05 kg, about 13" x 15-1/2". Heavy hand-forged construction with folded-over edge-rim, armorer's mark "L" below neck and (curiously) one dent from a musketball impact, probably imparted during battle, plus four small holes near the arms for attaching to other armor parts. The front has been cleaned and polished for display, with heavy old patination on back (as found). Found in an English country house.
