EL SALVADOR, 1 real, arms countermark (Type V, 1869) on a Mexico City, Mexico, cob 1 real, Philip II, assayer O to right, mintmark oM to left, rare, ex-Hubbard. KM-51. 2.58 grams. Weak but recognizable countermark (Fine, possibly a contemporary counterfeit) on shield side of a fairly well-detailed host (Fine) that is remarkably early (struck about 300 years before the countermark), full cross and shield, clear O to left and oM to right, nicely toned. Pedigreed to the Clyde Hubbard Collection, with his tag.
