Dominica, three halfpence, ca. 1798, diamond-shaped hole punch in center of a French Cayenne copper 2 sous, 1782-A, extremely rare, ex-Dalrymple, ex-Pridmore (Plate Coin), ex-Roehrs. Vlack-unl; Prid-33; KM-unl. 1.09 grams. Host Fine with surface corrosion, rather dark. The attribution is based on the fact that this coin was found on Dominica; the hole appears to have been made from the tip of a square nail. Excellent pedigree. Pedigreed to the G.H. Dalrymple collection (Glendining, February 1923, lot #108), and the F. Pridmore collection (Glendining, September 1981, with original lot-tag #303), and plated on page 166 (#33) in his book (The Coins of the British Commonwealth of Nations, Part 3, West Indies, 1965), also pedigreed to the Edward Roehrs collection (Dix Noonan Webb, September 2010, lot #216).
