Danish Naval boarding axe, ca. 1805. 1221 grams, 33" long, with 10" head. Small, narrow axe-blade with pick at other end, indecipherable proofmark, fitted with steel braces onto a fancy and long but very light wooden handle, the steel cleaned and devoid of rust, all original and intact, a type typically used during the War of 1812 in America by the British after being captured from the Danish in the Battle of Copenhagen in 1807, this piece then captured from the British by Perry's squadron at the Battle of Lake Erie in 1813.
