Cadiz, Spain, steel die for bust of Ferdinand VII for 4 escudos, dated 1810, by die-sinker F. Sagau F, rare. 1255 grams. Broad, heavy, octagonal die with round top into which was punched a small bust in reverse in center, mintmark crowned-C and date 1810 inside incuse at top, die-sinker's name inside incuse at bottom, with die-sinker's mark Z cut into side near bottom, the top part polished smooth but the rest of it typically slightly rusty and grooved from use. Pedigreed to the Cayon auction of December 2005.
