CUBA, Caunao, brass 10 centavos token, no date (late 1800s), Francisco Zayas Bazán y Varona, extremely rare. 2.82 grams. 20 mm. VF or so, with even golden brass surfaces showing light circulation, the denomination side displaying a bold 10 above CENTAVOS, while the other side bears an elaborate intertwined FB monogram, somewhat softly struck but readily discernible. An intriguing and apparently unpublished Cuban plantation issue attributed on the accompanying tag to Francisco Bazán in Caunao, supported by period records identifying Francisco Bazán as proprietor of the sugar mill Ingenio Monte Grande in Caunao. An important piece of 19th-century Cuban plantation exonumia.
