COLOMBIA, Pasto, bust 2 reales, Ferdinand VII (bust of Charles IV), 1822 O, • between date and CONST, NGC VG 10, ex-Becerra. Restrepo-115.2; KM-74; Cal-894. Lightly toned, off-center strike with very weak centers, heavy adjustment-marks on reverse, popular one-year type believed to have been struck in the royalist city of Pasto using modified Popayán dies with CONST in legend (unique among colonial issues) in reference to the new Spanish Constitution of 1812. (Note: NGC places this under Ecuador, whose border is close to Pasto, Colombia.). Pedigreed to the Becerra Collection (stated on label).
