COLOMBIA, Bogotá, uniface trial strike of reverse of 4 reales-sized proclamation medal, Charles III, 1760, rare, PCGS MS62, finest and only example in PCGS census, ex-Santander, Restrepo Plate. Restrepo-8 (p. 111, this piece); Herrera-94; Medina-110; Betts-492. 19.00 grams. 35 mm. Design of crowned eagle facing left with wings spread within legend SANCTA FIDES PRAESTAT FIDEM, with OCT. IDUUM AUG. / M.DCC.LX. in exergue. Deeply toned over nice luster, very important as no actual 4 reales were struck in Colombia under Charles III. Pedigreed to the Santander Collection (Sedwick Auction 26, lot 1136), and plated on page 111 of Restrepo's Coins of Colombia (2012), stated on label.
