COLOMBIA, Bogotá, gold cob 2 escudos, Philip IV, assayer not visible (A below mintmark NR to left), dots outside ends of cross (1639), rare, NGC AU 55 double struck, "top pop." Restrepo-M50.16; S-B20; KM-4.1; Cal-1795; Fr-2. 6.75 grams. Off-center strike but with full cross showing clear dots outside the ends of the cross (attributable to the year 1639 only within this type, for which this coin is tied with one other for finest in NGC census), the shield also full but doubled, with bold denomination •II• to right, rich gold color with evidence of minor die-rust.
