COLOMBIA, Bogotá, gold cob 2 escudos, 1668, assayer R below denomination II to right, mintmark NR to left, very rare, NGC AU 53, finest and only example in NGC census, ex-Caballero, Calicó Plate (both stated on label), Tauler Plate. RAMOS-10; Restrepo-M66.4; S-B21a; Cal-882; KM-14.1; Fr-3. 6.60 grams. Oblong flan with toning in crevices, full NR to left and II-R to right of nearly full shield, clear king's name (CA)ROLV(S), full cross and nearly full tressure with bold 16 of date followed by what has to be 68 (the only example known to us). Pedigreed to the Caballero de la Yndias Collection (Aureo & Calicó auction of April 2009, lot 128), and Plate Coin 151 in Calicó's Numismática española (2008 edition), also Plate Coin 199a on page 260 of Rafael Tauler's Oro Macuquino (2011).
