COLOMBIA, Bogotá, gold cob 2 escudos, 1659, assayer not visible (R) to right, mintmark NR to left, rare, NGC AU 58, ex-Trastámara (stated on label), Tauler Plate. RAMOS-2; Restrepo-M50.25; S-B21; Cal-1815; KM-4.1; Fr-2. 6.80 grams. Broad, oblong flan featuring a full and bold cross (enhanced by contrasting red toning, with adjustment marks on right side) inside a full date whose penultimate digit is somewhat flat (leading to prior misattribution, now die-matched with other 1659s), off-center shield enabling a full •N•R to left above full king's ordinal IIII. Pedigreed to the Trastámara Collection (Aureo & Calicó auction of May 2017, lot 588) and Plate Coin 144 on page 232 of Rafael Tauler's Oro Macuquino (2011), in both instances mis-attributed to 1639.
