COLOMBIA, Bogotá, gold cob 2 escudos, 1651, assayer R below denomination II to right, mintmark NR to left, PCGS MS63 (Maravillas), finest and only example in PCGS census. Restrepo-M50.25; S-B21; Cal-1809; Fr-2; KM-4.1. 6.77 grams. Off-center full cross with 100% full and bold date (very rare thus), the shield also full and choice and well centered with bold mintmark (N)•R• to left and denomination II to right above the top of the assayer R, most of crown at top, very lightly toned and exceptional grade (none in MS at NGC for this date). Recovered from: Maravillas, sunk in 1656 off Grand Bahama Island with Sedwick photo-certificate.
