COLOMBIA, Bogotá, gold cob 2 escudos, 1645, assayer not visible (R) to right, mintmark NR to left, very rare. Restrepo-M50.25; S-B21; Cal-1803; Fr-2; KM-4.1. 6.68 grams. Lightly toned AU with good full cross and shield, full N•R to left, and (best of all) bottom half of all four digits of date 1645. Curiously, all known examples of this date (same dies) have the mintmark NR to the left and assayer R to right, whereas all known examples of 1643, 1644, and 1646, as well as some 1647s, are assayer R to left, mintmark NR to right. Pedigreed to Sedwick Auction 10, with original lot-tag 27.
