COLOMBIA, Bogotá, gold cob 2 escudos, 1633, assayer A below mintmark NR to left, very rare, NGC MS 63 / Mesuno Hoard, finest known in NGC census, ex-Santa Fe, Restrepo Plate. ANUN-2; Restrepo-M50.11 (this coin); S-B20; KM-4.1; Fr-2. 6.71 grams. Exceptionally broad flan with full inner details (the cross double-struck but same size and style as the 1628 mule issues in the previous two lots, and in fact with the same obverse die) and nearly full legend including complete date, full NRA and denomination II, traces of contrasting red encrustation, desirably pedigreed, one of only two examples known to us. From the "Mesuno hoard" (ca. 1636) and pedigreed to the Santa Fe Collection (Sedwick Auction 11, lot 22), also plated on page 85 of Restrepo's Coins of Colombia (stated on label).
