COLOMBIA, Bogotá, cob ½ real, Charles II posthumous, date not visible (early 1700s) no assayer (Arce), rotated castles and lions, unique, NGC XF details / environmental damage. Restrepo-unl; S-B11; KM-B8; Cal-324. 1.30 grams. Small, thick flan with sharply cut edges, deep toning over faintly porous surfaces, full Philip monogram (see lot 947 for explanation) with CA- of king's name in legend, slightly off-center full cross with castles and lions chaotically rotated relative to one another but in a style similar to the previous lot, only the second example we have seen (the first being a Lasser coin in Sedwick Auction 18, misattributed to the 1660s). Note: NGC attributed this coin erroneously to Philip IV (1627-65) and Restrepo type M16 (Restrepo does not list any Charles II posthumous issues in silver).
