COLOMBIA, Bogotá, cob ½ real, Charles II posthumous, date not visible (early 1700s) no assayer (Arce), unique, NGC XF details / environmental damage. Restrepo-unl; S-B11; KM-B8; Cal-324. 1.05 grams. Choice full Philip monogram (see previous lot for explanation) with x above and x punched over an ornament below, also complete cross-castles-lions (proper quadrants), all well centered and deeply toned with slight surface porosity. This is the first example we have seen in this denomination with this style of castles and lions and x ornament, all of which matches gold cobs of the period. Note: NGC attributed this coin erroneously to Philip IV (1627-65) and Restrepo type M16 (Restrepo does not list any Charles II posthumous issues in silver).
