CHILE, Santiago, ½ real, 1840 IJ, NGC MS 66 (Colección Val y Mexía Label), finest known in NGC census, ex-Lissner, ex-Whittier. KM-98.1. Incredibly flashy with prooflike luster, very tall rims, the finest known of this scarce two-year type (only 14,000 of this date minted), a well pedigreed gem for the top collector. Pedigreed to the R.L. Lissner Collection (CNG/St James's/Teller auction of August 2014, lot 1337), stated on label, and the Whittier Collection (Heritage auction of June 2006, lot 16442), and the Val y Mexía Collection.
