CHILE, Santiago, gold bust 8 escudos, Charles IV (bust of Charles III), 1797 DA, rare provenance, NGC AU details / cleaned (Shipwreck Blue Label). Cal-1161; KM-54; Fr-23. Sharp details except for weak spot and light adjustment marks at bottom right of shield and small lacuna on cheek (all as made), muted luster and rich gold color, rare and important as the first gold piece we've encountered from this wreck. Recovered from: HMS Athenienne, sunk in 1806 off Sicily
