CHILE, Santiago, gold bust 4 escudos, Charles IV, 1796 DA, rare, PCGS AU55, finest and only example in PCGS census. Cal-1566; KM-62; Fr-26. Choice luster, great strike with full rims, just a little weakness in center on reverse and light wear on bust, also with 15-degree rotation in obverse/reverse axis, from a reported mintage of 6,970 pieces, with very few examples appearing in the modern auction record, this being the sole straight-graded example recorded by either PCGS or NGC. A significant opportunity for the advanced Chilean gold specialist.
