CHILE, Santiago, gold bust 1 escudo, Charles IV transitional (bust of Charles III, ordinal IV), 1791/0 DA, very rare, NGC VF 35, finest and only example in NGC census. Cal-unl (cf 1227); KM-unl (52 for type); Fr-unl. Light luster, good strike with full rims, moderate marks and high-point wear per the grade, the 1/0 overdate quite evident and important as establishing that the Charles IV transitional type continued to 1791 (contrary to KM and Fr), this being the sole example in the NGC census (none at PCGS) in addition to a clean-date 1791 with HSIP error in UNC details grade.
