CHILE, Santiago, gold bust 1 escudo, Charles IV, 1808 FJ, rare, PCGS AU55, finest known in PCGS census. Cal-1249; KM-61; Fr-27. Fabulously lustrous and well struck with full rims and virtually no wear (should be MS), just a typically lightly struck bust and adjustment marks on reverse, the final year of the type, from a reported mintage of just 2,448 pieces, the finer of only two straight-graded examples in the PCGS census with none at NGC (just a couple in Details grades), an impressively flashy coin to be sure.
