CEYLON (British), 25 cents, Edward VII, 1909. KM-98. 2.78 grams. Rare provenance to the Medina, an ocean liner that first sailed as a royal yacht for King George V's visit to India (as H.M.S. Medina), then converted to a passenger liner (as S.S. Medina), then authorized to carry Royal Mail (as R.M.S. Medina). She was sunk on her way back from Bombay, India, by a German U-boat on April 28, 1917, near Plymouth, England. XF with some mild corrosion on the reverse but otherwise well detailed and retaining some luster. With original certificate. Recovered from: S.S. Medina, sunk in 1917 off Devon, southeast of England
