CANADA, Franco-American (Seven Years War), copper jeton, Louis XV, 1755, galley, engraver signature FM, plain edge, ex-Adams, ex-Baker. Breton-515; Frossard-36; Wilson-obv J. 6.59 grams. Nice AU (rare grade) with even mocha color all over, showing script initials FM for engraver Francois Marteau below long-haired bust of king on obverse, the reverse showing the Argonauts’ vessel with beaver pelt (instead of fleece) near top of mast, representing the transport of the peltries back to France, inside legend NON VILIUS AUREO ("not less valuable than gold"), date 1755 in exergue, another lovely example from the period of the Seven Years' War with Britain. Pedigreed to the Warren Baker Collection of Canadian coins and tokens, and to the John Adams Collection.
