Brooklyn, New York, Long Island Bank, $10 front proof, 18XX (1843-45), plate position B. Haxby-NY-325 G28P. A scarce proof printed on india paper by Fairman, Draper, Underwood & Co. for the Long Island Bank, the first bank established in Brooklyn, New York. The Comptroller's Office vignette is to the left with a seated ancient figure as the central vignette; a small vignette of a fish would be present below that but has been removed during production. VF with good paper quality, a few small splits around the edges and where the fish vignette was removed, six punch out cancellations along the signature lines, and some scattered ink spots across the surfaces.
