Bronze rail cannon, Portuguese or Malaysian, late 1700s-early 1800s. 20 lb, 9 oz; 28" long. Cute little cannon with minimal design but attractive proportions, the muzzle thick and somewhat bulbous (1" bore), yoke and trunnions intact, sights on muzzle and flanking the touch-hole, deeply cylindrical cascabel (wooden tiller-handle typically missing), dark bronze color all over with light patina and encrustation in crevices. Pedigreed to the Bonhams (San Francisco) auction of November 20, 2007, lot #3312.
