British East India Company ship's blunderbuss, 1806. 3046 grams, 37" overall length, 20-1/2" barrel length. Fully functioning bell-mouth barrel flintlock 1806 blunderbuss marked VEIC (for Venerable East India Company) and signed "Baker" on the lock. Baker was a noted London gunmaker whose guns, known as Baker rifles, were used by the British Army in the Napoleonic Wars. The EIC Company had large land and sea forces which controlled India and trade with the British. Gun is made of polished age-toned hardwood stock of Asian influence showing minor age and service wear and minor repairs, with a toned barrel with proof mark, steel ramrod, bone butt cap, iron and brass mounts, and sling swivels.
