Bottom half of a small, ornate, gold reliquary locket or snuffbox. 22.62 grams, 1-3/4" x 1-1/4" x 1/2". Oval in shape, with smooth, flat bottom and ornately engraved sides, and with small loop or handle at each end of bottom (one broken off), missing its cover or lid (which probably connected to the bottom loops somehow) but otherwise intact, the gold very rich in color with coppery red stains here and there. This pieces begs comparison with lot 1180 above and investigation to see whether the State of Florida owns the other half! With Sedwick photo-certificate from 2007. Recovered from: Spanish 1715 Fleet, east coast of Florida
