Bogota, Colombia, cob 2 escudos, (16)28A, very rare, from the "Mesuno Hoard" (ca. 1636), Plate Coin in The Practical Book of Cobs (4th ed.), ex-Santa Fe Collection. S-B17; KM-unl. (cf. 4.1); CT-147; Restrepo-M50.3. 6.67 grams. Tiny cross with full tressure (off-center), outside of which is a bold full 28 of the date, good full shield with full NRA to left above king's ordinal IIII in legend, AU-, deeply red-toned per the origin. From the "Mesuno Hoard" (ca. 1636), and pedigreed to the Santa Fe Collection (our Auction #10, with original lot-tag #20) and to the Thomas Gray collection, and Plate Coin in The Practical Book of Cobs, 4th edition (2007).
