Bogota, Colombia, 1/4 real, Charles III, anepigraphic issue with pillar-dollar castle and lion (1760s-70s). Restrepo-2.1; CT-1478 (under La Rioja). 0.8 gram. Richly rainbow-toned UNC with lustrous fields, mostly bold rims (slightly off-center strike), a gem of a coin whose attribution is based on matching the castle and lion punches with those on the corresponding 8 reales, following a tradition that began with cobs in the 1600s. Jorge Ortiz Murias collection of Colombian colonial minors.
