Blue-and-white Delftware handled pitcher with "bird on rock" motif, ex-pirate ship Golden Fleece (1686). 528 grams. 6¼" tall. A sturdy jug in its time, now encrusted here and there, with a bird perched on a rock among horizontal bands of speckling and whisps of trees still visible, some missing chips of blue-and-white glazing. The pirate Bannister had captured an Irish ship and taken it north of Samaná, where he held it for two weeks and removed everything from it, including Delftware china like this piece. From the pirate ship Golden Fleece (1686), with original certificate from Captain Tracy Bowden through his contract with the Dominican Republic.
