Bavaria (German States), 2 taler, 1854, Maximilian II, opening of the Munich Glass Palace, rare, NGC MS 63 PL. Thun-95; Jaeger-89; KM-845.1; Dav-603. Attractive and popular commemorative for Munich's short lived Glaspalast (Glass Palace), constructed in 1854 and destroyed by arson in 1931. non-toned, frosty design with mirrorlike fields, a few wispy marks for the grade. Of the 35 examples graded by NGC, this is one of just three to receive the Prooflike designator. Pedigreed to the Zeitlos Collection (stated on label) and purchased from the Gerhard Hirsch auction #8 of Jan. 19, 1956, lot #221, with collector's envelope. NGC #5902795-017.
