BOLIVIA, Potosí, gold bust 2 escudos, Charles IV transitional (bust of Charles III, ordinal IV), 1789 PR, very rare, NGC AU 58, finest and only example in NGC census, ex-Almenara, ex-Caballero. Janson-74.1; Cal-1360; Fr-8; KM-66. Very bold strike and attractively lustrous, two minor natural flaws in edge, mintage unknown but undoubtedly very small. Pedigreed to the Almenara Collection and the Caballero de las Yndias Collection (Aureo & Calicó auction of April 2009, lot 15), both stated on label.
