BOLIVIA, Potosí, cob 8 reales, Philip IV, assayer not visible (1640s), ex-Sotheby's. KM-19a; Cal-Type 327. 14.52 grams. Doubled (or even tripled) shield with full king's ordinal visible in legend, nice cross, mottled dark gray surface with minor corrosion, rare provenance. Pedigreed to the Sotheby's (London) auction of December 2000 (lot 584), with Sedwick certificate from 2002. Recovered from: "San Francisco Wreck," sunk ca. 1647 off the Cape Verde Islands, west of Africa
