BOLIVIA, Potosí, cob 8 reales, Philip II, assayer A, ex-Sotheby's. S-P11; KM-5.1; Cal-674. 19.10 grams. Rare provenance to a wreck salvaged by Arqueonautas and particularly rare as an early type from this wreck, corroded along the edges but with much detail in the centers including a choice full shield plus bold mintmark and assayer, most of the cross visible too along with part of the legend. Pedigreed to the Sotheby's (London) auction of December 2000 (lot 584), with Sedwick certificate from 2002. Recovered from: "San Francisco Wreck," sunk ca. 1647 off the Cape Verde Islands, west of Africa
