BOLIVIA, Potosí, cob 8 reales, 1652 E, Transitional Type III, rare, ex-Ponte, Mastalir Plate. S-P37; KM-A20.3; Cal-unl. 25.66 grams. Broad flan with nearly full legends and 100% full inner details (slightly doubled) including bold full shield with clear O/N and E/8 above date to right, prominent E-•-E above full waves, patchy toning but not much corrosion (only on parts of edge). Pedigreed to the Luis R. Ponte Collection, plated on page 72 of Mastalir's The Great Transition at the Potosí Mint 1649-1653: The 1652 Transitional 8 Reales (2015). Recovered from: Capitana, sunk in 1654 off Chanduy, Ecuador
