BOLIVIA, Potosí, cob 8 reales, 1652 E, Transitional Type I, rare, NGC AU 55, finest and only example in the NGC census. S-P37; KM-A20.1; Cal-unl. 26.88 grams. Broad flan with much legend among flat areas (full 1652 date) and large edge-crack, full interiors but all a bit double-struck, especially the pillars side, which still clearly shows the rare "two-line" arrangement that started the Transitional series, lightly toned and currently unique as straight-graded (as nearly all are salvaged).
