BOLIVIA, Potosí, cob 8 reales, (1651) E, three dots after date (extremely rare), with crowned-L countermark on cross. S-P36; KM-19b; Cal-1491. 24.82 grams. Rather broad flan extending past the outer border in places (parts of edge crude as made), full shield and cross, the former with clear P-E to left and the latter with full and clear countermark, date not visible but with series of three dots at 11 o'clock matching Mastalir's IIIBe2 (this perhaps only the second example known), unevenly toned, some light surface corrosion. Pedigreed to the Ponterio sale #106 of April 7-8, 2000, with original lot-tag 995. Recovered from: Capitana, sunk in 1654 off Chanduy, Ecuador
